What a hoot!

Gene, talk about a trip down memory lane! Where did you find this stuff? It's wonderful (in a "you-had-to-be-there" kind of way)! Letraset -- heck, I still have my own name set in Stripes --stat cameras, lots of black & white work; good, bad and ugly, these were my most formative years. You couldn't just whip this stuff out, so you had to plan ahead, work through it letter and color at a time, pay attention. It was a great education and a fun time to be a designer. (Today is equally fun but in different ways.) Thanks for the piece.

Slow Image Cause?

Yes, it does seem this column is loading slowly. I used a new utility this time to batch re-size images and while the file sizes are smaller than normal, it could be that process is the culprit. We'll run some experiments to see. Thanks for your patience!

How about same content but on MORE pages

It seems that a website devoted to good design would be able to craft their web pages to load faster. Great article, lots of great art, but it took forever to load and I'm NOT on Dial up.
