wonderful for matching samples

I have been using digital swatchbook for a little over two years in a large format pre-press environment. One of the handy features of the photospectrophotometer in conjunction with the software is the ability to "read" customer unknown colors and produce a list of closest pantone colors and cmyk equivalents.
Also, on occasion, I have pulled press sheets and used the swatchbook to tweak builds to match a customers product which was printed previously at another shop from other film. Eventhough the customers think they "know" the color - the visual color on the press sheet is really what they want to reproduce.
On occasion, especially in Quark for me, Pantone colors will seem to need extra work if the complete file was produced using perceptual rendering in the CMM.
In the end this stuff makes a handy tool.
And -- it can just be fun. I have many times used the color complementor to explore painting schemes for my and my friends homes.
