Good site, good anaylsis.
Mr. Andres, while no Jakob Nielsen, makes some good points here, points that e-commerce web developers should duly note.
For the record, Netscape Navigator 6.0 does suck prodigiously, an opinion confirmed by virtually all early reports of it's use and beta-testing.
Doesn't have a whit to do with their well-designed site, though...
"Long" John Holmes
Netscape 6.0
This release of Netscape is a terrible product: it doesn't work not good at all! There are sites totally not acceptable reconstructed: buttons have become another (wrong) place, frames are sometimes puzzled in an strange construction. This is more worse than any betaversion of a program I've ever seen!. English is not my language, but I think I've made my point clearly!
Don't confuse Netscape site with Navigator
The author responds-
The previous reader's comment seems to refer to the product, Netscape Navigator/Communicator, while the article refers only the Web presence of netscape.com. These are two very different entities and they are not to be confused despite the fact that they appear to be the same brand. It is possible to have a great Web site (or at least great home page) as Netscape does, without having a great product (about which I've made no comment).
