I have had success using blank CD-R media made by Princo (http://cdrom2go.com/optical_media/princo.htm) They are the only CD-R's readable in my Sony DVD and Mac Powerbook G4 DVD.
So the teaser mentions the problems with different colored bases, but the article doesn't answer this question. As far as I'm concerned the article is too long and contains too much fluff for the few insights it provides.
I think that if more people were aware of some of the issues presented in this article there would be fewer problems in providing our clients with files on CD.
