Pretty cool feature
This is a neat upgrade for PageMaker. We use xdata/xcatalog for QuarkXPress to keep a live connection between FileMaker databases and documents and you're talking over a grand for the whole thing. We're a publishing firm.
If you're a savy small business user, this feature is pretty cool.

xdata/xcatalog and QuarkXPress are all AppleScriptable which is a major drawing point.

Ventura has had better publishing solution from database for years. Even Corel Draw can merge data direct from database.

I switch between Quark and PageMaker depending on the project. PageMaker 7's Data Merge feature could be very helpful for me.
Data Merge is old news
This new feature might come in handy once in a while, but Filemaker has been doing the "graphical database" for years. My pick for best feature in PageMaker 7 is the dandy content CD packed with the Plus version. It's got lots of good EPS clip art and a useful thumbnail catalog.
