Supacam DV6 Review by a buyer/user
The Nisis Supacam DV6 is the worst piece of junk I have ever owned, except for an '85 Dodge Charger.
The DV6 has five functions: video camera, still camera, MP3 player, voice recorder and webcam.
It stinks at all five functions.
First off, it has manual 3-zone focus via a little switch. That means nothing is ever in focus. You can't trust the little color viewfinder. Believe me: it won't be in focus.
The video camera function records smeary, lousy MPEG-4 video. It works terrible. It's uneditable, even if you install their software. If you share the video with someone else, they have to install the codec to view it. It won't work with Macs.
It cannot capture action. If the subject doesn't move, great. This camera is perfect for funerals if you bring a tripod to hold the camera still.
The still camera is crummy. It says it's six megapixels. Ha. A lie. (My Nikon 990 at 3.14 megapixels runs rings around it.) The DV6 can't work in low light, as either a still or video camera. The flash is below the lens, making awful snapshot lighting, if it fires at all. It also is very slow to take the picture, even though it's not autofocusing (because it can't autofocus).
It has a single focal length lens. It has digital zoom, but that just makes the picture quality even worse.
The menus are confusing and difficult to get to quickly. The buttons are poorly laid out and don't do what you think they should do.
The MP3 player renames all the files to "Track 1" "Track 2" "Track 3" and so forth, and does not keep the original file names. Then, if you delete a track, it renumbers all the tracks. It also has no pause, fast forward or rewind ability. In short, it's useless as an MP3 player.
The voice recorder...well, who needs a voice recorder?
The earphone jack is sub-mini, not the standard 1/8" mini plug. Sub-mini is fragile and difficult to find. Few headphones will fit it.
It might work fine as a web cam. So who wants to pay $260 for a webcam?
The Nisis Supacam DV6 does nothing well. I would not trust it to capture anything. I only wish there were ten more sites I could report this to until Nisis goes out of business.
Nisis DV6 camera
Nisis DV6 - biggest piece of crap ever developed. Sold by former used car salesman at electronic shows. All faulse promises and crap. If you want to return they charge you a 15% "restocking" fee. This is the real way they make their money.
