I have a small contract screenprint shop. A few years ago Pantone sold an application by VISU Technologies called Hex Wrench. I quickly built a good business around that software. Unfortunately it used a floppy disc security scheme. The floppy died & when I called Pantone for a replacement they had parted ways with VISU & the disc couldn't be replaced. My business almost went under thanks to a software security scheme. Fortunately with the help of a software writer in Washington state I survived. Bottom line is I will never trust another company with that kind of control over my ability to earn a living. Illustrator 11 & Photoshop 8 are now the heart of my business & I do not trust Adobe to be around even next year. Macromedia is an example to base my fears on. I will not upgrade my Adobe products as long as they have an activation process in place.
