Maybe you kept Simon & Garfunkle out but....

Well written and obviously researched extensively, this was one of the best short feature pieces I have read of late.

It certainly was a blast from the past and gave me several moments of pause where I was struck with very strong feelings of Deja Vu.

Kodachrome - one reason to stay with film.

Bravo!

'Which way should we go George?, Which way should we go???'

Eastman Kodak was for generations of Americans synonymous with the American Flag, Apple pie, and revered by millions of people from all walks of life as a testament to the genius of George Eastman, and THE paradigm for Corporate Excellence and ethics in business. Today, sadly it is difficult to name any corporation with a more pathetic example of profound lack of any clue as to the profound market and technological quantum shifts that have changed the world over the last 20+ years. Dazed and Confused would make for an ideal corporate anthem.

Brings back a world of fond memories

David; Thanks for that trip to the past via Kodachrome. It's been my favorite film for slides and for that marvelous Bolex 8mm. The Bolex died in 1975, and I never came close to my dream of becoming a movie producer/director. I certainly agree about the emulsion 'coloring one's memory', and, like you, I prefer my memories in Kodachrome color over all else. Ektachrome was something I used because it was all I had left in my camera bag (way too green, that Ektachrome!).
After a 25-year lapse of working with the moving image, I'm now trying to establish myself as an amateur videomaker (DV), and still remember all those hours in the basement with film clips in a hanging pillow slip, and the subsequent hours in darkened rooms showing my films to friends and neighbors.
Coincidentally, I'm currently having several thousand feet of 8mm mastered to digital media - I just can't let go of that Kodachrome!

Thanks again for your insights

John
