Indesign CS3 Table styles & Excel Link

I love the fact that Indesign CS3 has finally made it possible to create table and cell styles! This would definitely make it easier to leave work and have a life (makes it worth doing the upgrade). Excel table link is another big plus!!! I do have a couple questions about the excel tables, though. Can excel tables created in Word docs be updated as a link in Indesign, or is that too much to ask at this time? If not, would it be better to work with Excel or purchase a plug-in?
