Epson printer

Maybe Epson has seen the folly of their ways. I wouldn't know, because I have not bought a single Epson product since my experience with another prints-all-sizes Epson printer that I recommended and which failed repeatedly (embarrassing me iwith my boss and colleagues). Worse, there was no one in the city of Portland who could fix it. Too big. So we had to box up the monster and send it to Epson's repair. They sent it back with a broken frame. Moreover they were snotty. This was several years ago, but the bad taste remains.

Epson Stylus Photo R1900

I have used this printer when working for an agency. It produces beautiful color but what you are missing is who you should recommend this printer for. They could give this machine away for free in what they make up in the price of the ink cartridges & paper.

We were running comps for a client and I had to go out and buy $600.00 worth of supplies to print numerous rounds of proofs.

I would highly refer this printer to semi-professional and photography hobbyists.

R1900 sharing

You mention the ability to share the printer on a network with both Mac and Windows printer sharing in their OS's, but in practice (I run a lab of 12 macs with two print servers, an R1800 and a 2400) I spend way too much time dealing with networking problems with the epson printers. My "help" from the epson support people is always that I should not count on it to work smoothly because the Epson drivers do not support printer sharing. When it works, it's despite Epson and when it doesn't, my class usually has an assignment due. I hope the driver for the 1900 has been improved over the others in this regard, but frankly, that would surprise me.
