Shouting at a deaf person
This design mentality is what I call 'shouting at a deaf person.' Who doesn't speak the language. The victim of your 'communication' certainly won't 'hear' or understand your message and will probably think your angry or insane. Or both. Much better to use a simple hand gesture to communicate your idea.
Unfortunately, in the organization I work for, 'shouting' is considered good design (don't ask). If that doesn't work, they bring out a bullhorn. Right now, I'd settle for being the goat herder's assistant.
I fought the law, and the law won
Believe it or not, my wife is my worst client. I've stopped fighting with her - if she wants Myriad Bold Condensed on her posters that promote gentle birth techniques, who am I to argue?
Marketing Techniques
From the book "Selling the Invisible"...
"...nothing works more powerfully than simplicity." The video made me anxious, not in antipation of purchasing, but for its busy-ness.
where do I apply for the goat herder position
Yes, here at Xxxxx Xxxxxxxx Inc., we too are often design by committee. With a deep allergic reaction to white space and often black space too. Space must all be filled or condensed. We are still in search of our identity. And the more companies our CEO crams into this space with each acquisition, the more logos we try to merge. Oh and don't forget the disclaimers, we don't want to be sued.
We can't all work for Apple, Target or VW. Thus the challenge of the age.
