Digital Publishing with Adobe InDesign CS6

Is there a hotter topic in the creative realm than digital publishing? The success of iPad, Kindle Fire and other tablets has opened up an exciting new platform for all kinds of publications, from magazines and books to catalogs, brochures, and portfolios. EPUB ebooks and interactive PDFs seem to be everywhere. And just this past week came the big news that Adobe was adding Digital Publishing Suite Single Edition to the Creative Cloud, allowing subscribers to publish an unlimited number of apps to the Apple App Store at no extra cost.

Certainly when it comes to digital publishing, there’s a lot to know. Why, you could write a book. And that’s exactly what CreativePro authors Sandee Cohen and Diane Burns have done. The book is Digital Publishing with InDesign CS6, and it’s hot off the presses with 272 pages of information you need to know to create and work with digital publications.

Here’s the book’s description from Amazon:

If you’re a print designer or other creative professional who needs to create digital documents for multiple devices, you will be thrilled with the powerful new tools in Adobe InDesign CS6. Now you just need to know what to do with them. Digital Publishing with Adobe InDesign CS6 examines not just the How of using the tools, but also the When and Why of choosing among the various digital format options— ePub, tablet app, PDF, HTML, and so on. Clear explanations and plenty of full-color graphics will guide you through the potentially confusing digital publishing landscape. Written by two longtime publishing experts, the book thoroughly covers the theory and best practices for using the revolutionary new layout features in InDesign CS6, including Alternate Layouts, Liquid Layout Rules, and the Adobe® Digital Publishing Suite (DPS), the complete digital publishing solution for tablets.

And because the shelf life of digital publishing information is about the same as a banana, the authors have created a companion website, indesigndigitalpublishing.com to supplement the book with the all the latest news, commentary, and related tidbits.
