Thomas Lennon shot this week's image in 1936. The buff subject was 42 years old at the time. Known as Don Athaldo, he was an Australian strongman and physical fitness advocate who was born as Walter Joseph Lyons.

The glass plate negative of this photograph is part of the Powerhouse Museum's Photographic Collection and has no known copyright restrictions. For a lot more information from Flickr on what that means, exactly, see The Commons page.
