Free For All: The Halloween 2010 Edition

Halloween is my favorite holiday. Everyone dresses up, candy is flying this way and that, and like the Great Pumpkin, I get to deliver presents of fun freebies to you.
120 Stock Photos
I’ve selected 120 themed images from the free (and royalty free) stock photography site, Stock.xchng. After signing up for a free Stock.xchng account, log in and visit my Halloween lightboxes for an eclectic mix of creepy and corny, objects and backdrops, humans and inhumans, candy and corn, and a pumpkin full of more. Just click on each desired image to access its download options as well as related photos from the same artist.
Because Stock.xchng lightboxes are limited to 60 images each, there are two lightboxes to help you trick out your design treats.

Music and Sound Effects
Where would your Halloween-themed websites and other onscreen projects be without spooky music and chilling sounds? Visit this site, this site, this site, this site, and this site to find the perfect music, creaks, howls, screams, and roars to chill your audience’s spines.

What can I find free for you? Want more free fonts? More Photoshop brushes? How about more online applications that do this or that for free? Tell me in the comments what you’d like to see in future installments of Free for All, and I’ll do my best bloodhound impression to track it down for you.

Thanks for the scary things! Are the fonts free to use in commercial products?

    Hi, Pariah-

First, thank you for all the textures and fonts and other stuff you’ve dug up for us. You asked what else you might find for us. My name is Elwood Smith and I’m an illustrator. I’ve worked for years with analog materials–Pelikan 120 pen, India ink and watercolor. In recent years I’ve been merging my traditional techniques with other imagery, mostly using Photoshop, but also Corel Painter. I can’t seem to find a brush that will give me a good simulation of my trusty Pelikan fountain pen’s nib. Painter’s Crowquill brush comes close, but even when I tweak it, it’s not the same. I now use a Wacom Cintiq and that has helped my digital drawing skills immensely, but I’m still seeking the perfect pen nib. When I look around on the web by typing in Photoshop or Painter brushes, I mostly get those decorative or grunge textural brushes. Not what I’m looking for. Ditto when I search for pens or nibs + Photoshop. Perhaps you can find some brushes that will get me the right flexible nib that more closely approaches a real pen.

    Thank you,
    -ES
