The rumors of GoLive's death have been around since the merger of Adobe (adoptive parent of GoLive) and Macromedia (parent of Dreamweaver). Everyone knew that Dreamweaver was the market leader, so the release of GoLive 9 less than a year ago surprised many industry watchers and users alike.

But now Adobe, which at one time said it would develop GoLive "based on our customers' needs," has given up hope that GoLive would find a big enough market niche to make it worth the R&D expense.

If you're a current GoLive user who feels like it's time to take the company's hint and switch to Dreamweaver, keep an eye on the Adobe site for migration tutorials and a $200 upgrade path.
