Always wanted to design a great poster? Don’t know where to begin or do you just need a good creative boost to get you to that next level?
Come join us for our Spring 2011 session of the Modern Dog Poster School 2, May 9 through June 27th. Class is limited to 10 students.
Take this six-week course from true poster making veterans. This class meets in Modern Dog’s studio and you will get individualized instruction and hands-on help from the original founders and owners of Modern Dog, Robynne Raye and Michael Strassburger.
Modern Dog has been designing posters for nearly 25 years and has the zillions of posters to prove it – covering just about every genre: Theatre, Music, Social Causes, Self-Promotion, Advertising, and more. Plus, you’ll end up with approx. 30 copies your very own screen-printed posters (all included in cost of class).
Course Includes:
* Poster Overview – good, bad, pretty, ugly, unusual, wtf
* Tour of Clone Press, the screen-printing studio that will print your posters
* Discussion of what makes a good poster including: media choices, design components, rules
* Demonstrations of different media uses
* Demonstration of hand typography
* Concepts and thumbnails – presentation and discussion
* Concept refinement – presentation, discussion, final tweaking
* Art execution – typography, lettering, illustration, collage – what’s right for your poster
* File Preparation – how to do it, what to watch out for, what not to do
* Printing of posters followed by final presentation and critique
5 weekly meetings plus final printed poster delivery and mixer:
Mondays 7:00 – 9:00 pm
May 9, 16, 23, June 6 and 13. Final poster delivery and mixer June 27th – location to be determined.
