Monotype Imaging Adds Four Type Foundries to Fonts.com

Typeface collections from Berthold, ParaType, Phat Fonts and Sparklefonts are now available from Fonts.com. The new fonts can be previewed by clicking the “foundries added” link on www.fonts.com/new.
“These fonts cover a broad range of design needs,” said Allan Haley, director of words and letters at Monotype Imaging Inc. “With completely original creations from Phat Phonts and Sparklefonts, typographic standards from Berthold and fonts with diverse language support from ParaType, there is truly something here for every designer.”
Founded in 1858 in Berlin, Berthold has developed many typefaces regarded as industry staples. Among them is the Akzidenz-Grotesk® family, a large series of sans serif fonts first released more than a century ago and used commonly in newspapers and magazines. The 196 Berthold products are offered in the PostScript® format for Microsoft® Windows® and Macintosh® systems with prices starting at $39. Berthold products are available for phone purchase only by calling 1-800-424-8973 (U.S. and Canada) or 1-781-970-6020 (all other parts of the world).
ParaType specializes in fonts that support Western European, Central European, and Cyrillic languages. The ITC® Officina® Sans CE font family is a Central European version of the popular ITC typeface. Paratype’s 389 products are available in the TrueType® and PostScript formats for Windows and Macintosh systems. Prices start at $25.
The Phat Phonts “micro-foundry” from Australian Type Foundry includes a selection of unconventional display designs. The RatBagâ„¢ typeface features distressed letterforms that are positioned at various angles. The six Phat Phonts products are offered in the Windows TrueType and Macintosh PostScript formats. Prices begin at $22.
Sparklefonts showcases the work of founder Geoff Anderson, who noted his designs as aiming “to maintain legibility without compromising style.” The Chocolateâ„¢ family is a flexible, monoline sans serif script. The 21 Sparklefonts products start at $28 and are available in the TrueType and PostScript formats for Windows and Macintosh systems.
