New Font Management Products Coming

In January 2009, Linotype will unveil new products that offer advanced font management and font access capabilities for a wide range of font users.

At the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco, Jan. 6-9, 2009, Linotype GmbH and its parent company, Monotype Imaging Holdings Inc., will showcase new products based on Linotype’s FontExplorer® X font management solution. Product demonstrations of the new FontExplorer X Pro and FontExplorer X Server editions will take place at the Linotype booth, number 3934.

“We made sure to carry forward qualities of our original FontExplorer X that were so well received by our customers and the graphic design community,” said Frank Wildenberg, managing director of Linotype GmbH. “However, our new products have been developed from the ground up and include new features to provide every kind of font user a simple, yet comprehensive solution.”

Does anybody use these anymore?

Does anybody even use these types of software packages anymore? With most modern OS's (and many older ones), this type of software is unnecessary unless one owns ____gobs____ of font files...

Maybe a Windows version... finally?

After many years and one incredibly short and buggy Windows beta, perhaps they'll actually release a functioning Windows version? Maybe? I know all of our Windows users are looking very forward to not using Suitcase any longer...
