Save Ink, Paper, and Time with Print Selection for OS X
Chimp Studios introduced Print Selection 1.0 for OS X. Accessible from the menu bar, the dock, or the Services menu, Print Selection provides a solution for users seeking to print snippets from webpages, emails, and documents. The printing utility can either display a window where users can paste and edit snippets before printing or immediately send the snippet to the standard print dialog.
The OS X Services integration allows Print Selection to serve users even when it is not running. By selecting a snippet in another app such as Safari and then invoking the Print Selection service, Print Selection will automatically start up and present the print dialog with the snippet displayed. Preferences are available to have Print Selection automatically quit after the print dialog is dismissed, to have the app displayed in the menubar, dock, both, or neither, to automatically save content between app launches, and to set a customizable hot key for displaying the Print Selection window. Content can be toggled between color and grayscale with a button on the main window in order to preserve color ink.
* Simple access to app from Menubar, dock, or Global hotkey (Ctrl p by default)
* Power user friendly Service integration for direct to print dialog efficiency
* Grayscale mode instantly converts all text and images to save on color ink
* Customizable hot keys for both the app and the service
* Content is automatically saved between app launches
* Resizable menubar window
* Supports basic text editing
"My wife is an avid crocheter and likes to print patterns off the internet. One night she turned to me and asked how to print off just the pattern instructions without all the banner ads, comments, and other web clutter," recalled Andrew Schenk of Chimp Studios. "I didn't have an elegant answer for her so I created one."
