Shoot a Video, Win $100,000

Press release
Nikon’s new contest is “Your Day in 140 Seconds or Less.”
The Brief
To celebrate HD video within the Nikon D5000 we’d like you to show us “A Day through your Lens.”
So what’s it like to be you? Capture the essence of your day in a video of 140 seconds or less. It can be funny, touching or profound. It can be about everything you did, everything you didn’t do, the day’s biggest dilemma or its most telling detail.
Upload your video here and instantly share it with your social media networks rather than sending the same old updates. How? When you upload your video you can automatically share your video with your Twitter followers and place it on your Facebook feed, so your friends can also view your day and vote on your video.
Although you’re not required to use a specific camera, your video will be judged on image quality, originality and the ability to capture a day through your lens in 140 seconds. So get as creative as you want to be when capturing your day.
Festival Timing
You’ve got until December 15th to submit your videos. So get rolling.
Once the video submission period’s over, we’ll choose up to 50 finalists who will be eligible for the Audience and Judges awards.
Decisions on finalist videos will be made and announced on the site by December 22nd. Don’t worry, we’ll remind you in case you forget.
If you’re one of our lucky finalists, tell your friends and family to come back, view your video and rate it for your chance to win one of the huge prizes!
How You Can Win
If your video racks up the most views and receives the highest average ratings, you’ll win the Audience Award. So tell your network to vote! The audience award is voted on by site visitors AND your network. If your video knocks it out of the park based on the following criteria, then judges Rainn Wilson, iJustine and Chase Jarvis might be handing you the coveted Judges Award.
Quality of video: Looks matter. So when you’re shooting keep technique in mind. Watch the composition and the clarity of the shot.
Originality: If it’s been done, don’t be doing it again. Show us something fresh.
Ability to capture the theme within 140 seconds or less: This isn’t the 142-second video festival, so make sure you tell your story in the allotted time.
