Webinar Series Tackles Business Concerns of Creative Pros

You may have seen a book called Graphic Artists Guild’s Handbook of Pricing & Ethical Guidelines. You may even own it–and if not, you probably should. The book answers thorny questions about the business aspects so many creative pros struggle with.
But have you ever thought about the organization behind the book? The Graphic Artists Guild is a national organization that serves “graphics creatives” (print and Web designers, illustrators, production artists, and so on) across the United States.
Guild membership dues range from $75 to $200 a year. While that may seem like an unnecessary expense at a time when budgets are stretched thin, guild membership comes with some valuable benefits, such as insurance freelancers can afford and legal services, and a copy of the Handbook of Pricing & Ethical Guidelines.
The Guild also offers training, like this five-session webinar series that begins in October:
* October 20, 2011: Strategies for Pitching New Clients. Presented by Daniel Schutzsmith
* November 17: Social Media Marketing for Creative Professionals. Presented by Ana Quillinan.
* December 15: From Gig to Retainer: How to Create Long-Term Client Relationships. Presented by Von Glitschka.
* January 19, 2012: The Pricing Game. Presented by Patricia McKiernan.
You don’t have to be a member to attend this webinar series, though it will cost you more. If you register for a single session only, the cost is $30 for Guild members and $45 for non-members. If you register for all five sessions, it will cost $100 for members, $160 for non-members. You can also attend the entire webinar series for free if you either join the Guild for the first time or renew a membership by October 19, 2011.
