Font Fetish: Ayres Royal

It's the swashiest!

There are many, many situations in which you wouldn't want to use Ayres Royal. But so what? I would buy this typeface just so I could set it really, really big and revel in the loops and curlicues of each exuberant capital and number.

Ayres Royal was designed by Gert Wiescher, who has been a graphic designer in Germany, France, South Africa, and Spain. It's available as a PostScript font (Mac and Windows) and TrueType (Windows only) and is $49.50 from FontShop and MyFonts.com.

Do you suffer from font fixations? There are sympathetic ears in the Fonts and Typesetting Forum.

Swashy! I'll say

The Swishiest - Swashiest Font ever!
"Ayres Royal" hardly does the face justice. Maybe "Tatoo Script" or "Guess The Letter Book" would be a better name for the face. Thanks for the article. It made me look!
