All Texture Lost
Comment by lizardman on March 16, 2004
Smoothing is one thing. Here you have eliminated all texture. This is akin to using a Gaussian Blur of about 3.5. I have used Photoshop since 1990 and I usually find your articles useful. This one is way off the mark, however.
Color correcting can be done in black and white

While I agree with the article's general direction, I wish to bring up a point of interest relating to those color pros who work with digital images destined for CYMK output and, ultimately, offset printing. Color calibration packages leave much to be desired. Whether you are using a CRT or LCD monitor, you should not be relying on the monitor's presentation of color.
