Text reflow and lack of support make Illusatrator CS a no-go

Where I work I spend the bulk of my time in Illustrator producing consumer packaging. It may surprise you to know that many of the pre-press vendors in this industry will only accept Illustrator 8 files. Strange but true. (and I can't use other vendors, these are my clients vendors)
