My personal opinion is that any student caught using pirated software should be expelled, with no chance for readmission. Software piracy is a crime, with penalties ranging from confiscation of all computers and software on the premises to fines of up to $1,000,000. While enforcement is rare, it is important to note that this law is on the books. It is international in scope.
