Hyphen position wrong with Minion Pro in QXP 8.1.6, OS 10.6.4 (snow leopard)

At the ends of lines in 10/12 Minion Pro (opentype) when a word is automatically hyphenated (rag right), the hyphen character aligns at the top of the "x" height of the 10 pt. font size. Obviously, this is incorrect positioning and should be lower. This bad positioning occurs in both the Quark document itself and when printed out to a color laser printer. I've used the same font in other layout programs and the problem does not occur. Please help. Thank you.
