Two Bugs in my Family
Comment by Cindy Samco on July 18, 2008
My Dad and Brother both had Beetles. My Dad's was a newer model (don't remember the year) with the high-backed -- "safer" -- seats. This was the first car I got to drive around parking lots at age 7 or 8. I'd sit on Dad's lap, steer and control the gear shift. My Dad would handle the pedals. That was my idea of the ultimate cruise control.
Way Cool!

Okay, this is a great find! Some purist may find some fault with the quality, but for us hobbists... WAY COOL. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I will display it proudly!

In my years behind the "curtain" that is CreativePro, I always appreciated Gene's stories. They allowed us to get our heads out of the pixels and vectors and reminisce about how it was done in simpler times. He made me think about family, friends and colleagues in a new light. Thank you Gene!

Getting Rid of Old 35mm Cameras
Written by Cindy Samco on February 19, 2008
Does anyone know where I could go to get rid of old 35mm cameras? I have several "point and shoots" and a few SLRs. I thought about Craigs List but would like to get them to someone who would actually want them. Thanks for the help!
Are you going to MoMA's "Color Chart"?
Written by Cindy Samco on February 19, 2008
I live on the west coast and may not make it to NYC to see MoMA's new exhibit "Color Chart: Reinventing Color, 1950 to Today." The promotional images look amazing! If anyone here goes... please report back and share your experience.
HEE... what a great catch

Thanks to tekwrtr for pointing out the typos we all hope we don't make.
try right clicking

Try Right-Clicking (Control+Click on Mac) on the download link and saving the PDF to your hard disk instead of clicking and letting your browser figure things out.
Back to the drawing board
Comment by Cindy Samco on June 12, 2007
There are some seriously R/X-rated interpretations out there on the current logo. The millennium wheel is soooo Y2K. All in all, they need to go back to the start and come up with something a little more appealing.
why i love iClip
Comment by Cindy Samco on May 29, 2007
When Apple's scrapbook application (Desk Accessory) went away I started using a text file to capture all the snippets of text that I find myself typing repeatedly. Having to open the file and scroll through the snippets was time consuming. I happened across a handy little application called iClip. It is like most of the multiple clipboard applications.
Implied Agreements
Comment by Cindy Samco on February 20, 2007
When you enter a theater you are making an implied agreement that no outside food or beverage is coming in with you -- per the signs on the doors. Does that constitute stealing? The theater thinks so.

Working for $0?
Comment by Cindy Samco on November 7, 2006
I haven't been asked to do spec work, but I don't think I would. Who wants to work for a client who thinks my value is $0??
The linked file error as been corrected

The two linked QuickTime .mov files are now corrected.

Problems Downloading
Comment by Cindy Samco on October 24, 2005
You may have some browser plug-ins conflicting with the download. Trying right+clicking (control+clicking on Macintosh) on the PDF link in the story and then saving the PDF directly to your hard disk. Do this rather than clicking directly on the link and letting your browser figure things out. Cindy @ creativepro.com
Boaters are still a different breed
Comment by Cindy Samco on July 8, 2005
I have to disagree with your closing statement, Gene. I've been a boater since the 1960's and still own a ski boat. My husband and I are still delighted at how friendly other boaters are. We no longer live on the water so we have to trailer to the water. But even on dry land, boaters are courteous and patient.
Buying the Book
Comment by Cindy Samco on April 18, 2005
The book is available on Mr. Tankard's Web site (http://www.typography.net/). I believe it is sent with fonts that are order. You may want to drop him a note and ask if the book is available by itself.
working for me
Comment by Cindy Samco on May 12, 2004
The PDF is downloading okay for me. I noticed that on the Macintosh it will download a file called "jump" but it is the actual PDF from the story.
