Studio Hinrichs did a good job. I particularly like the font that they chose.
99.4% satisifed

Well, according to my account info, I've been here for just shy of 12 years. In that time, I've seen a lot of changes, most for the better. So, I'm okay with whatever you plan to do. Perhaps a few more hardware reviews would be nice. Otherwise, carry on.
"Gandhi" misspelled
Comment by Demolition on March 29, 2011
Just FYI... Gandhi is misspelled as "Ghandi" in the title and subtitle.

- Unbalanced - The fabric should have crisp edges, not the fluidic look - Does not "speak" to me. What message is Banks trying to convey?
Does not speak to me

Like several other commenters, I got the mental image of staples rather than what the designer says that I should be seeing (i.e. "the frame of a magazine [extending] into the frame of a horizontal screen").
PhotoTools 2.5 Free
Comment by Demolition on May 4, 2010
Pariah & Terri, Thanks for the heads-up on PhotoTools 2.5 Free. So far, I'm having a lot of fun, experimenting with all the useful effects. And, as you said, it's *FREE*. p.s. It's too bad that more people don't work on their reading comprehension, eh? ;-)
Tint-O-Matic
Comment by Demolition on April 27, 2010
I once had prescription eyeglasses with Tint-O-Matic lenses. They're similar to the current Transitions lenses, except made of extremely heavy Coke--bottle thickness glass. Back in the day, they were really a marvel. Thanks again for the memories, Gene. :-)
Hawaii
Comment by Demolition on February 23, 2010
Great scans, as always, Gene. My Dad lived in Hawaii in the early '50s and he still has wonderful memories of his time there. For some reason or another, I've never visited Hawaii. Might be time, eh? It'll be another way I can connect with my Dad.
Identity?
Comment by Demolition on November 24, 2009
These logos don't mean anything to me. As far as I'm concerned, they're just letters on top of squiggles and random images. Time for Wolff Olins to go back to the drawing board. Literally. p.s. I hope they go with the "cat with exploding head" logo. That would be awesome.
Thanks for the memories

I fondly remember my Dad (and as you said, everyone else's Dad) smoking a pipe back in the "old days". When I was a little kid, I liked the way that the bowl got warm, so I'd always want to hold it. As you can imagine, that bugged my Dad quite a bit, but he was a tolerant sort.
Album covers, Whipped Cream , 1984
Comment by Demolition on April 14, 2009
Gene, This album cover series was great. Brought back a lot of memories, considering that I own most of the albums listed. Might have to drag "Whipped Cream & Other Delights" out of storage, if only to ogle the lovely girl on the cover. ;-)
Checking prints
Comment by Demolition on March 24, 2009
Gene, I used to be one of those casual types that you mentioned, i.e. just pick up the envelope and leave. However, after a few incidents in which the prints or negatives were botched (e.g. flipped horizontally, underdeveloped, etc.), even at supposedly reputable labs, I became one of those people who would check every item at the counter before I left.
Treading a fine line
Comment by Demolition on February 10, 2009
Apparently, Shepard Fairey has a tendency to appropriate others' works into his own. For example, Milton Glaser mentions another such "referencing" in an interview with PRINT Magazine (linked via today's CreativePro newsletter: http://www.printmag.com/design_articles/MiltonGlaseronShepardFairey/tabid/492/Default.aspx
Thanks for the memories, Gene.

I was lucky that my Dad was a bookhound who found joy in every type of book. Our house was full of every type of printed material from novels and cookbooks to atlases and encyclopedia sets.
Thanks, Gene!

@ Gene: Thanks for another fine article. Extraordinarily touching and nostalgic. @ arthurpazo: Same-sex pair bonding is common in nature, from fungi up to primates and everything in between. Do your research before spouting noinsense.
'1941 Dodge Sedan Delivery
Comment by Demolition on October 21, 2008
Our first "wagon" was a 1941 Dodge Sedan Delivery. It was a bright shiny green (reminds me of green M&M's) with wide whitewalls on red rims with chrome center caps. My grandfather bought it new and passed it on to my Dad around the time I was born (1967). I have fond memories of that car. A real classic.
A moving and sentimental article
