My wife hates green

I worked on an annual report for a large corporation. We pounded through this thing for many weeks, taking it through all the layers of management for reviews and changes. The company had grown considerably in the past year, so we were using a "growth" theme complete with pictures of fresh growth in nature as abstract illustrations. A nice forest green color theme also dominated throughout.

Still room for simple and fast

I still use PageMaker for many jobs because of its awesome speed and simplicity. I can launch the application and complete a layout before InDesign or Quark really get started. So while I agree with the concern about market fragmentation, I certainly believe there's room for both products. The challenge for Adobe will be differentiating the two brands in the minds of consumers.

sRGB not so great

I'm disappointed that this new version of JPEG will be standardized to sRGB. This is a limited version of RGB with a much narrower color gamut. It's a very short-sighted decision. Today sRGB makes sense, especially since low-cost business systems can't handle a wider gamut of color.

Not such a good guy after all

Sure, Tim Gill is doing a good thing. But that doesn't make him a saint. Maybe he's feeling guilty about all the years he spent being rude to staff and customers. Quark has a legacy of arrogance and rudeness--internal and external--that eclipses any other software company, including Microsoft.
