I agree with the writer who suggested that optical media may not be good for permanent storage. I assume that my DVDs will eventually fail, be damaged, or lost, and that is why I make TWO of each one.

This is the strongest response to any article I have ever written. I have a number of comments to make regarding the controversy over students and pirated software. 1. Please understand that Cal Poly University has legal, licensed software and numerous computers on which to use that software.

Both of these comments address issues that are not uncommon when working with Photo CD images. The comment on Unsharp Masking is not related to Photo CD, as the Photo CD system does no sharpening at all. If there was too much sharpening, it was a result of post-processing.
