Shouting at a deaf person

Comment by Big Al on March 7, 2006

This design mentality is what I call 'shouting at a deaf person.' Who doesn't speak the language. The victim of your 'communication' certainly won't 'hear' or understand your message and will probably think your angry or insane. Or both. Much better to use a simple hand gesture to communicate your idea.

There's always that one person...

I served on the board of a non-profit organization for just over three years. Even though those who facilitated the board meetings were following the majority of the guidelines set out in this article, nearly all of the meetings were a monumental waste of time. And all because of one person.

Reaping the benefits

I am one of the fortunate ones. Not only is my service provider up-to-date with all applications and techniques, he has magically handled any type of print job I've needed done. With excellent service and the highest standards of quality. Although, we too have the "walking dead" in our area. Some deservedly so and others not.

Deja View

WOW!!! It's deja vu all over again!

Come Back From La-La Land

Mr. Joy is a classic example of the scienist screaming "Wolf!" in order to justify his creation. In the U.S. there are people livingÑby circumstance and not by choiceÑwithout electricity (outside of CA), running water or indoor plumbing (I don't refer to the homeless). How are these people going to be effected by the technology Mr. Joy describes? Will they be assimilated?

Burned twice, shame on me.

I'm fortunate to work with a service provider who is obsessive about the quality of there output. If they have any problems with my designs, they call! Still, in the rush to meet deadlines, mistakes happen.

Excellent advice. Heed it.

It's nice to have well considered, experienced and constructive advice minus the sales hype. Those contemplating the jump to video in general and to DV in particular, would do well to heed Mr. Long's words. The guidelines set down in this article will serve you well in your choice of equipment.
