how's the weather up there

Being 6' 4" 3/4 I always rounded down to 6' 4" when people asked my height and my wife would always round up to 6' 5". When I had my first physical in a few years a while back, I measured in at 6' 3" 1/2. I'm now rounding up and trying to not to slump.

old graphic tools never die

We recently had a contest in our department to see who had the most of old, long forgotten graphic tools still in his/her possession. I was able to eke out a victory with sheets of transfer lettering and a bestine dispenser. Not sure if it's a good or sad thing to be declared the winner but I got a beer out of it.

You think anyone noticed that the same photo of Kate Smith was used on both album covers?

2 memories

My family had an early 70's Mercury version of the Country Squire - yellow with "wood" siding. We would travel twice a year from Northern KY to Maryland to visit relatives. The thing I remember is the packing of the luggage rack. This was only done by my father. He would have everything, to be taken, in the driveway.

clarification

I should clarify, I did not create logo #3, I had to use it on every piece of training and presentation material that I worked on. I like the flatness of #3 (more print-friendly) and the balance of font-to-globe. I agree with suzinart's comment the #4 and #5 are a progressions in the development of the logo.

Working in AT&T's Corporate Communications Department as a Graphic Designer from 1986 to 1994, I spent many an hour with #3 and it's 8-line iteration (to be used at smaller sizes). At the beginning of the PC days (and we did work on PCs, built by AT&T) It was always a struggle to keep the corporate integrity of the logo intact.

Arizona Highways Magazine

In the 70s, my grandparents made a trip to Vancouver, BC. On a visit to their house I noticied a similar type of magazine on the coffee table called Beautiful British Columbia. I made a comment about the nice photos in the mag and the next Christmas, I began receiving a subscription that lasted for the next 10 years. Thanks Nanny and Pappy!

I suppose I shouldn't judge what I haven't tried for myself, but

Years ago I replied to one of those ads and received the admission test for the Art Instruction School. It not only included drawing Tippy or the pirate (a bambi-like deer comes to mind) but other exercises such as perspective and fashion design.
