Wide-Format Printers from Epson Aimed at Small Businesses

Epson has introduced three new wide-format models. The $299 WorkForce WF-7520 and $249 WF-7510 are both all-in-ones, capable of both printing (13" x 19") and scanning (11" x 17"). The $199 WorkForce WF-7010 is a wide-format inkjet printer that Epson says is the fastest of its kind at outputting both single-sided and double-sided prints: 15 ISO ppm black and 8.0 ISO ppm color single-sided; 7.8 ISO ppm black and 5.2 ISO ppm color two-sided.

The $4,599 Xerox Phaser 7800 is a laser printer aimed at graphic design agencies and other companies in need of color-accurate output at high speeds.

The 1200 x 2400 dpi printer comes with the PhaserMeter Color Measurement Device, which makes it as easy as possible to calibrate your printer for accurate color matching. Xerox says the Phaser 7800 can even match Pantone PMS colors!

New Photo Printer Includes Five Shades of Monochrome Inks

Canon recently announced the $1,000 Pixma Pro-1 inkjet printer, which is aimed at professional photographers wanting to make their own prints without giving up quality. The Pro-1 uses 12 inks to do so: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Red, Photo Cyan, Photo Magenta, Photo Black, Matte Black, Gray, Dark Gray, Light Gray, and Chroma Optimizer. Canon says that these inks not only result in more realistic skin tones, but blacks that are richer and smoother, with less graininess, bronzing, and metamerism.
