Recosoft's PDF Converter Apps Now Ready for Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

If you often need to convert PDF documents to InDesign, Microsoft Office, or iWork, chances are that you've heard of the conversion applications from Recosoft. They include PDF2ID and PDF2Office SE, Standard, and Professional, all of which now work with Apple's newest OS, 10.7 (known as "Lion").

Recosoft notes that the PDF2Office for iWork v1.0.1 updater is available for download from its website, but if you want to update PDF2ID v3.x, you must contact Recosoft.

Update to InDesign Plug-in for Publishing to the iPad

Aquafadas has developed a plug-in for Adobe InDesign that let you create interactive publications for the iPad and other tablets, and for smart phones. The plug-in is still in beta, but you can join the pre-release program if you're an early adopter.

A few caveats: You can create files for free, but you must pay Aquafadas to publish the content. In addition, the plug-in is currently available only for the Mac OS. Aquafadas says that a Windows version is coming soon.

Updated Tool Promises to Optimze PDFs for Tablet Viewing

Software company Enfocus has many large publishing clients. When some of those clients complained about the slow, crash-prone experience of using PDFs on the iPad, Enfocus listened and acted.

The result is Update 2 for PitStop Pro 10 and PitStop Server 10. Enfocus says that Update 2 optimizes PDFs so that the iPad and other tablets can quickly open PDF files and users can interact with those files. After optimization, your PDFs will still have sufficient images and text quality.

PDF2ID Now Compatible with InDesign CS5.5

Now that the CS5.5 version of InDesign is available for sale, applications that interact with InDesign are updating, as well. One of those is Recosoft's PDF2ID, which converts PDF files to documents that InDesign can open and edit.

In addition to supporting InDesign CS5.5, the updated PDF2ID also improves font mapping and app stability. PDF2ID Standard/Professional v3.0.1 is a free update for licensed owners of PDF2ID v3.0.
