TypeTalk: Point Size and Letter Spacing
When you make type bigger or smaller, don't forget to adjust the letter spacing, too. The result, Ilene Strizver says, will be more evenly colored text.

When you set a typeface that's spaced for display usage (such as Helvetica Neue Thin, below) at smaller point sizes, increase the tracking gradually to create the appearance of even letter spacing.
