You Better Shop Around
Every few months, I use this space in the CreativeProse weekly newsletter to share logo redesigns and invite you to debate their merits. I usually withhold my opinions, but this time I can't be quiet.
Here's the original logo of ShoppersChoice.com, an online seller of high-end grills, patio furniture, and the like:
And here's the redesign, introduced last week:
While the redesign has plenty of problems, it's not exactly sick-making. What does make me queasy is the way ShoppersChoice.com got this logo: Through a one-week "contest" on a crowd-sourcing website. The "winning" design cost the retailer exactly $220.
To discuss the new logo, read the design brief, and find out what crowd-sourcing website produced this monument to blandness, go to "You Get What You Pay For".

Au Courant Aquarium Last week's Cool Stuff was a recycled cardboard deer head. For those of you who liked its whimsy but not the rusticity, behold: A very modern aquarium. One of them measures just 7.5"x 7.5"x 8",and you can even stack units to build contemporary fish condos.
Swim swim swimmy.

This site delivers a new hand-drawn "swear word" every day. Some days are decidedly not safe for work viewing; in fact, the more sheltered of you may learn some new vocabulary. Don't say we didn't warn you.
