Kayak Logo: Before & After
Online travel search engine Kayak.com, which was founded in 2004, discarded its logo a few months ago and is now beginning to roll out the new brand in earnest.
The original mark references an eye and a bird's-eye-view of a kayak:
The new logo recalls old-timey split-flap display boards that were once common in train stations:

Safely Export Pictures from QuarkXPress
Jay Nelson details a process that's ideal when you want to give a Web developer pictures that you cropped, rotated, or altered in QuarkXPress. It's also useful for converting a picture from one file format or color space to another.
To update original picture files with the effects as you export them, choose File > Save Picture and select either Selected Picture or All Pictures in Layout:
