    Photoshop & You

Advertising and marketing is meant to influence the behavior of the people who witness it, right? And I think you could classify Adobe's new venture, a pop-up shop in San Francisco called the Photoshop & You Experience, as marketing. Yet to me and other attendees, it seemed more like a celebration of creativity.

To call it a "shop" is a misnomer. Yes, you can buy things there, but you can also attend free workshops, photo walks, and seminars led by big names in the field. You can ask Adobe employees questions about Photoshop, Lightroom, and Photoshop Elements. You can see gorgeous vintage cameras and stunning artwork. You can have your photo taken and engraved on a dog tag or printed on a poster.

The Photoshop & You Experience is a big disappointment in two ways: First, it ends on August 6, and second, it's only in San Francisco. But if you're going to be in the city between now and August 6, check out the upcoming programs on the pop-up shop's website, then go! You won't regret it.

And if you won't be in the area before September 6, increase the chances that Adobe will recreate the Experience in another city another time: Request it here.

The mad hatter is Dr. Brown, AKA Russell Brown. The young man working the t-shirt machine is Davis Brown, his son. It's a dynasty!

Scanning Around With Gene: Young Guns

Gun ownership has always been seen as an American right and staunchly defended, no matter how old the shooter may be. Gene Gable found 1960s gun ads that show children having fun with guns.
