    Infographic Nirvana

If a mad scientist turned a Shrink Ray on a print or web design, the result would be an infographic. It's the distillation of communication design, which is why we love the format. When they're well done, they're delightful little packages of designy goodness. And when they're poorly done, we can tell ourselves how much better our interpretation of the data would be. (Come on, you know you've thought it!)

The Visual.ly website is a treat for infographic fans. As of today, it houses 3,560 examples of data visualizations, which you can browse by category, best liked, most viewed, and most recent. Here's a section from a recent staff pick:

Messenger bags are so passé. The manufacturer of this product calls it the "Sleep-E-Tent Super Pet Ferret Super Sleeper," but at 11" wide and 14" high, I call it the new thing in hipster accessories.
