Just Imagine If They Chose Comic Sans!
You may have heard designers freaking out over Ikea's decision to switch from the typeface Futura to Verdana. I'll go on record as saying that I use Verdana every day when I write and edit. But that's on screen. Ikea's using Verdana in print. At really big sizes. Wince.
I've created a page that brings together samples of Verdana in the 2010 Ikea catalog; links to some of the coverage (there's a lot of it); and your chance to choose a typeface that would be even more heinous than Verdana.
The Ikeapalooza starts now at www.creativepro.com/node/65065.

Scanning Around With Gene: Give Me Back My Book!
An Ex Libris bookplate was once a common way to identify books as coming from your personal library. Gene Gable is thinking about designing his own. What would your bookplate look like?

TypeTalk: InterroBANG
Ilene Strizver explores the interrobang, which is both a question mark and an exclamation mark.
