Quark  made a lot "decent" improvements on version 7. We are just considering going direct to PDF (like InDesign) instead of creating postscript files for later distilling but before we commit to that I would like to know what are your thoughts in this aspect. Quark is offering PDF style settings like PDF/X-1a, Press High Quality etc. that are good for HiRes printing but again we need your advice in how to proceed with this.

The most accurate response will come from the print shop you pla

I advise that you talk directly to the print shop (or shops) that output your print projects. They can tell you what file formats are best for them.
