After battling lung cancer for several months, Bruce Fraser passed away on December 16, 2006.

Many people benefitted from Bruce's wisdom and dry wit. He spoke at events around the world, and he wrote numerous books. (Is there a copy of the Real World Adobe Photoshop series on your shelves? Then Bruce helped you.) He also wrote "Out of Gamut," a long-running column for Creativepro.com that began just a few months after the site launched.

"Out of Gamut" expanded our understanding of color management and the geekier sides of Photoshop. His "Why Is Color" remains an excellent introduction to why we see color, and why colors sometimes match and sometimes don't. Everyone from newbie designers to prepress operators who eat color management for breakfast should bookmark his glossary, "Color-Correct Vocabulary". And if you wish you knew more of the ins and outs of photo sharpening, read Bruce's "(Almost) Everything You Wanted to Know about Sharpening in Photoshop But Were Afraid to Ask" and "Thoughts on a Sharpening Workflow".

So long, Bruce. We'll miss you very much.
