Hyphen position wrong with Minion Pro in QXP 8.1.6, OS 10.6.4 (snow leopard)
Written by R Sherman on October 8, 2010
At the ends of lines in 10/12 Minion Pro (opentype) when a word is automatically hyphenated (rag right), the hyphen character aligns at the top of the "x" height of the 10 pt. font size. Obviously, this is incorrect positioning and should be lower.
This bad positioning occurs in both the Quark document itself and when printed out to a color laser printer.
I've used the same font in other layout programs and the problem does not occur.
Please help.
Thank you.
Quark 6.5 to 8 Compatibility
Written by Gary Berger on January 20, 2010
Does anyone know of an extension that will allow Quark 6.5 to read Quark 8 files on Windows XP, I had found one for Macs, but unfortunately we work in a PC format.
We have an off-site office that works on a military base, and we where required to upgrade to Vista on their machines, for security purposes. Because of this we had to upgrade to Quark 8 on their machines. Our problem lies here...our main offices utilize Quark 6.5 very extensively, only becuase our APT software is only compaible with the 6.5 version. So upgrading to Vista and 8 are not a doable solution.
Some Clipping path images showing up differently than others in Quark 6.5
Written by sgal on October 8, 2009
On a Mac using Quark 6.5 I have a document in which 9 tif images with clipping paths are showing up just fine when the file is exported as a pdf, but two others, which seem to have all the same settings, are not. They show up as though a dark mask is over them, although they look the same as the others on screen in the layout (and at one point a few weeks ago printed out okay). I tried saving the pages as eps files and they looked okay until I distilled into pdfs in Acrobat Distiller. Then they appear exactly the same--as though a dark mask is obscuring them.
QuarkXpress Web creation
Written by Jose Baldizon on October 24, 2008
Hey guys.
I've been using QX 8 for a few months now and I've put it to good use. I've made a book, and two different calendars with it. I'm trying to launch a web site in the next few months and since Quark 8 has been so good and fun to use I figured why not use it to build my site?
Since I never hear of people using Quark to build web sites, I get the feeling that either it's not a popular choice for web creation, or that some people don't feel it's adequate enough for web creation. Can anyone present me with reasons why I shouldn't use QX8 to build my site?
Placing PDF's as art in a Quark doc/ insuing printing problems
Written by Candace Carlson on September 23, 2008
My fonts come in bitmapped when I place a pdf in as art. They are embedded on the pdf as it prints perfectly. Setting? Quark not talking to printer? Any ideas?
Thanks all, Candace

Written by Jose Baldizon on August 26, 2008
Hey Guys,
I just got QuarkXpres 8 and I'm already busy working with it. I've run into a problem, though. I'm trying to use bulletin points, but don't know how to format them. Can anyone provide me with any sort of help regarding bulletin points in QuarkXpress 8? Thanks.
I'm new at this, can someone help?

I need to show this led finger light with a white background. But the light needs to be on and show a little color on that white background. If I just use a brush and white out some area around the light hitting the table then it does not look very good. I want to make a great looking photo to put on the front of this website. I would appreciate any help at all. There is a photo now on the front of this website www.lducompany.com of the finger light but they want me to change it to have a white back ground but show the color light. Thank you.
