Text graphics & variable data
Written by Martha Shawnee on June 22, 2009
I am a graphic artist for a direct marketing company - we are doing lots of direct mail with variable data. I know most of the ins & outs of phtooshop to create letters with "rustic wood" effect and such, but I need to figure out how to create letters with objects, like balloons or rocks - so a name is spelled out in rocks in the sand, or balloons in the sky. Any tips?
Font Forge, Fontographer, TypeTool, or FontLab Studio?
Written by Terri Stone on April 25, 2008
In her article "Create Your Own Fonts: (http://www.creativepro.com/blog/typetalk-create-your-own-fonts), Ilene Strizver recommends the apps Fontographer, TypeTool, and FontLab Studio. In a comment on that article, a reader mentioned Font Forge as a free font creator.
Has anyone here used any of these apps? I'd love to hear your experiences.

Written by David Langton on March 21, 2008
I've been designing logos and Identity projects for over 20 years (OK, I'm old.) how update / synchronize multiple AI files?
Written by gary ***** on March 14, 2008
Hi, anybody help. Need to know if its possible to update or synchronize multiple adobe illustrator files. Example: A clients table menu prices are updated, but those menu prices need to be updated on say posters, takeaway menus etc, so how can one do that without the chore of opening multiple files and re-typing or even having to copy, paste and format whole chunks of text?
Maybe its possible to do something like this in quark or indesign?
