Image question
Written by Aude Nevius on May 5, 2012
I have created a postcard for a client in InDesign and on it is a star that is supposed to be yellow. Originally, this was also an ad in a local newspaper, and when it came out printed in the paper, the star was green. This was then an object created in InDesign.
So I went to Illustrator, created the same object as a vector one with a CMYK profile at M18 Y85, and linked the star to my InDesign file. The next newspaper ad came out fine.
kraft paper
Written by Carmela Bower on February 5, 2012
Hello, I'm a graphic designer and been trying to help a client to print successfully on 350 g kraft paper for packaging. We tried printing on kraft with photos of the food and couldn't get satisfactory results -- the whites don't seem white enough so the photos of the food look dark and don't pop.

What's on Your Mind?
Written by Terri Stone on May 24, 2011
TypeFacebook was a booth at the 2011 Bay Area Maker Faire that was organized by the People's Republic of Paper, a loose collective of designers, type casters, paper makers, printers, and book binders.

The TypeFacebook concept was simple: Using moveable lead type, people were asked to respond to the prompt Facebook uses: "What's on your mind?"
Each character of your answer was a piece of metal type, which you carefully picked from a job case.

CMYK shadow on spot color
Written by plum74 on June 13, 2010
Does anybody who knows this from experience or know if this will be a problem....
In Illustrator, I have a background that is going to be in a solid spot color on top of it is a Photoshop image of a plate with a soft shadow. Is the shadow going to be a problem on a spot color? does this knock the spot color out?
I have asked the client's printer who is unfortunately China...I'm not sure he understood my question at all...
Thanks in advance for the help. :)

Im just a 1 man broker, but many of you have been having issues with 4over, well this past week i decided to give this new printer a try. To my surprise, they actually pick up and talked to me, and shipped everything within 3 days, and best of all they delivered it next day. And the prices are just below 4overs, and quality is great. lowestpriceprint.com, i will be placing more orders, so if you want to know how it went send me a message.

Tintbooks Obsolete
Written by Pixel Pup on October 2, 2009
I was wondering if four color process books like Tintbook, Process Color Manual and Color Index 2 are obsolete as general references for defining process color on the computer? Is so, why and what alternatives are there?
I posted a similar question on a different forum. I am combining comments from two people below:
COMMENT ONE
The books with process swatches they all have the same drawback: They somehow predate digital color management.
I have no idea why do you want one of this books but, this said, you might be better off with one of these two items:
Freelance Printing Resources?
Written by Danny Leif on September 23, 2009
I am a newly started freelance graphic artist. I am trying to vary my resources on where i print my client projects. what are some good printing websites that offer wholesale prices that i can try?
i tried 4over, however, you can only register with them through specific hosts or servers, not a free public email which is what i work off of since i am not a firm. so i would need a site that allows you to sign up with a public email domain.
