Introducing Fontikon: A Unique Collection of “Ethno-Esoteric-Mystic-Magical” Fonts for Creatives

1

Looking for some cool, fresh fonts to add spice to a project? Check out Fontikon. Described as a set of “Ethno-Esoteric-Mystic-Magical” fonts for creatives, it’s an upcoming collection of 8 type families and symbols with deep historic and global roots. Whatever vibe you’re looking for, from samurai to Cthulhu, Game of Thrones to Aztec empire, there’s something in Fontikon for you.

Each font family comes in TTF/OTF for print and WOFF for web use. They all contain uppercase, lowercase, numbers, special characters (with full support for Latin 1 Standard 300 glyphs) and include a set of symbols of each specific culture.

Fontikon is the brainchild of Michela Graziani, and a follow-up to her previous Kickstarter project, the Symbolikon Digital Encyclopedia. To support the development of these fonts, Graziani has created a Kickstarter campaign. Here’s her statement on the campaign:

To create Fontikon library, I’ve read countless books on ancient cultures, mysticism and myth. I’m hoping that I can raise enough funds through Kickstarter to continue my research. There are so many cultures out there to learn about. I have designed the first 8 of these font families and I need your help to go further in the development of new worldwide fonts.

Help me make this project a reality, so it could be shared with all the font enthusiasts, game designer, design professionals and everybody who likes it!

After the project completion, I plan to continue my research, adding new Font families and exploring other cultures, such as: Mayan, Hopi, Greek Mythology, Latvian, Egyptian and many more.

The Fontikon Kickstarter campaign runs through July 19, 2020 and aims to raise €8,000. Estimated delivery of the fonts is September 2020. A pledge of €40 will get you a commercial license for one font. With a €160 pledge you get a single-user commercial license for all 8 fonts.

It’s nice to see a batch of non-scripty fonts. There seem to be so many these days with wonky baselines and unreadable ‘r’ and ’s’ glyphs. But €160 for 8 fonts with only one weight each seems like a lot.
